Compliance & accessibility

The guardrails that are not optional. Attorney advertising is regulated in North Carolina, and accessibility is both a legal and an ethical baseline. When a post touches either, it goes through review before it ships.

Outline — to be filled, and not legal advice. This page summarizes the rules a designer needs to respect; the firm's compliance owner approves the final language. Verify against the current NC State Bar Rules of Professional Conduct.

Attorney advertising rules

The NC Rules of Professional Conduct that govern social content — 7.1 (no false or misleading communications), 7.2 (advertising), 7.3 (solicitation of clients), 7.4 / 7.5 (fields of practice & firm names). Plain-language do/don't for posts to come.

Claims, results & testimonials

No guarantees or implied guarantees of outcome; how past results must be framed; when a disclaimer is required; and the rules for client testimonials and reviews.

Required disclaimers

Standing disclaimer language, where it appears (caption vs. on-canvas), and the "advertising material" labeling rules where applicable.

Accessibility

Alt text on every image, captions and transcripts on video, color-contrast minimums for type on canvas, and never encoding critical information in an image alone.

Approval workflow

What needs sign-off before posting, who owns it, and the checklist a post clears before it's scheduled.
