LinkedIn specs

The exact dimensions, safe zones, and limits LinkedIn assets must hit. Design to the recommended size, keep critical content inside the safe area, and verify legibility at the in-feed scale a phone actually renders. Specs are LinkedIn's published guidance as of 2026 — confirm against the current Help Center before a major launch.

Profile & Company Page

The persistent brand assets. The cover image crops aggressively across breakpoints, so anything that must be seen — the logo, a tagline — belongs in the horizontal center band, never the corners.

AssetDimensionsNotes
Company logo300 × 300 pxSquare. Displays as small as 60 px — use the compact mark, not the full lockup. PNG, transparent.
Company cover / banner1128 × 191 px≈ 6:1. Keep type centered; edges are masked on mobile and behind the logo badge at lower-left.
Personal profile banner1584 × 396 px4:1. Lower-left ~25% is covered by the profile photo on desktop.
Profile photo≥ 400 × 400 pxCircular crop — keep the subject centered, no square-corner content.
Headline220 charactersIndexed in search; lead with role + value, not a slogan.

Image posts

Four aspect ratios cover everything. Portrait (4:5) claims the most vertical space in the feed and is the default for single-image posts; the 1.91:1 link card is what renders when you share a URL.

Square (1:1)1080 × 1080 pxQuote cards, stats, carousel frames.

Video

Most video is watched muted in-feed — captions are mandatory, not optional. Square and portrait outperform landscape for organic reach.

Copy & character limits

The feed truncates the post body fast. Everything that earns the click has to live above the fold — before the "…see more".

FieldLimitGuidance
Post body3,000 charactersHard cap. Most posts perform best far under it.
Visible before "see more"~140 (mobile) / ~210 (desktop)Front-load the hook. No critical info or CTA below the fold.
Hashtags3–5Specific over broad (#EstatePlanning > #Law). Place at the end, not mid-sentence.
Document title≤ 60 charactersShown above the carousel — make it the value proposition.

Do & don't

Do
  • Design to the recommended pixel size, then preview at phone scale before approving.
  • Keep the logo and any must-read text inside the safe center band of cover images.
  • Use portrait (4:5) for single images and consistent square frames across a carousel.
  • Caption every video — assume sound is off.
  • Set the 1200 × 627 OG image on every blog post so link shares render on-brand.
Don't
  • Place logos or text in the corners of a cover image — they get cropped or masked.
  • Bury the hook or CTA below the "…see more" fold.
  • Mix aspect ratios within one carousel, or upload a carousel as separate images.
  • Ship video without captions, or rely on tiny type that fails at thumbnail scale.
  • Stuff 10+ broad hashtags — it reads as spam and dilutes reach.
Safe-zone rule of thumb: if it must be seen, keep it within the central 80% of the canvas and at least 64 px from every edge. Platform chrome — counters, action buttons, "see more" — lives in that outer margin.
